My Story

My journey to become a certified Death Doula was paved by my personal experiences with the deaths of family members and friends.

At the age of 24, I suddenly became a widow after my husband was killed by a distracted driver.  I was not prepared in any way to deal with making funeral plans, managing assets, and navigating through the world of crisis and grief.

My goal is help.  That means different things to different people.  I have found that two of my biggest strengths are planning ahead and helping others in high stress situations.

My various jobs of being a high school teacher, a small business owner, and a mom have all allowed me to sharpen those skills.  Working with you and your loved ones provides comfort for both you and myself.  I take pride in knowing I have helped someone plan out their "best death."

I have lived in Grand Rapids with my husband, Ben, for 11 years.  We have two young children, Martha and Jack.  As a family we love to play golf, watch college football and basketball, and cook up delicious meals.
